You know you're in IB when...

I think maybe this will help you all understand the ridiculous world in which I live known as the International Baccalaureate...

You know you're in IB when....

-You begin to talk to yourself, then disagree about the subject, get into a nasty row about it, lose, and refuse to talk to yourself for the rest of the day.

-You can spell "Baccalaureate".

-You go to bed at 3AM and think, "Oh, it's an early night!"

-You've fooled yourself into believing that colleges actually care whether you're in IB or not.

-You write sentences on multiple-choice tests.

-Your idea of impure thoughts is whether or not to copy math homework.

-You've developed an imprint of your book bag in your back.

-Your books weigh more than you do.

-You consider giving up going to the bathroom permanently to give you more time to study.

-You find that you overreact when you get 2 points marked off on your homework.

-The simplest words you know are at least 10 letters long.

-You still get kicks saying "Your epidermis is showing."

-You think MTV is a formula for mass, temperature and volume.

-You've mastered the art of procrastination so well that your research paper finishes printing just seconds before you have to leave for school.

-You find pleasure in spelling people's names using chemical symbols.

-You sneak Rubik's cubes into class.

-You compare your love life to politics and/or math.

-Energy drinks and coffee become the largest part of your diet.

-You miss school to do homework.

I can honestly say that probably 90% of these are directly applicable to my own life experience. Especially the whole procrastination thing. I've literally had to chase the bus because i was waiting for a major paper to print... more than once. And whenever an IB kid skips school it's to finish a research paper or big assignment.

It's been too long...

... and I need to update.

So so much has been going on recently. School continues to drain the life out of me. College apps are in and we're waiting on letters. :P Christmas was okay. Work is okay. I just feel like I'm stuck in a rut of okay-ness. No fun...

However, just as I had begun to lose hope about some things... God is beginning to move in a BIG way that is such a privilege to see! I'm so excited to see where He takes us. I've been thinking a lot about a lot of things. And... it just hit me I'm out of here (Lord willing) in a few short months! I feel like I have a lot of growing up to do... but I'll get there eventually.

Does anyone else ever stick pens in their hair and then totally forget about it and frantically search for a writing utensil? I think I've done that like 4 times in the past couple days. I am so absent-minded sometimes.

I got a new camera and it's kind of awesome. I love taking pictures with it. :D

Homecoming

Well, I didn't get to go to our homecoming game on Friday. :( I had to babysit my sister. However, spirit week before homecoming was pretty fun. Here is what the lineup was:
Monday: Twin Day (I was twins with my friend Carolyn)
Tuesday: Superhero Day! (my favorite)
Wednesday: Western day (I was a cowgirl)
Thursday: Patriotic Day
Friday: Blue and Gold Day (school colors)
I have so much fun wearing ridiculous outfits to school. Of course we won our homecoming game, just in case you were wondering... Although if you were, it must be because you know nothing about high school football. Smith is 11th in the nation!

Well... life's a little boring right now. School is same old and home isn't much different. I'll post if and when anything noteworthy happens.

I love Spanish. It's definitely my favorite class. I had an oral presentation today and it was so awesome to hear myself and realize how much better I've gotten at speaking Spanish! I remember 10th grade being so far behind everyone else and practically crying because I couldn't understand the teacher. There are so many cool things about Spanish... for example: the Spanish word "entonces" can be used as you would use an English "therefore," "thus," "and so," "and then," "next" or "as a result." It's like the catch all transition and probably my favorite Spanish word. My favorite Spanish phrase is: "lo que sea" (literally=that which shall be, equivalent to "oh whatever") and my favorite Spanish idiom is: "le patina el coco" (literally=his coconut is slipping, equivalent to "he's got a few screws loose.") So yeah that's all for today.

History repeats itself...

Today in History class, we were discussing the 1896 election between Populist/Democrat William Jennings Bryan and Republican McKinley. Our teacher brought up the interesting idea that our current election very closely parallels that of 1896. Is Obama a new W.J. Bryan? Is McCain a new McKinley? Obama definitely leans toward Populism with his policy and is very charismatic as was Bryan. McCain has the fear of populism (because it has some parallels with Communism) on his side much as McKinley did. Well... we'll see what happens. Another interesting idea... our teacher referred to Sarah Palin as "the next T.R." Apparently, her background, controversial policies and potential ability to make or break America bring to mind the days of Teddy Roosevelt. I mean, TR came into the presidency when McKinley was shot... many people have doubts that McCain will live through his presidency (if he is elected). And a final thought regarding the election... many politicians believe that Western Virginia very well may be the deciding point in this election. Exciting, right? All right well I'm out to write a psych paper!

... Oh and just a random PS, my brother never shuts up and it drives me nuts.
